  1. Brick
  2. Don't You Worry

After releasing two solo albums and a couple of other label releases such as the new Twelve Inch Jams series, Jazz & Milk founder Dusty took some time to explore new territories including the sound and workflow of the MPC sampler - an incentive received while working on music together with labelmate Sam Irl.

As a result Dusty came up with two house jams on which he channels old samples and analogue synths with a hint of progressive but yet very melodic acid basslines.

While “Brick” starts off on a disco tip and slowly dips into a harmonic and deep 303 bassline groove, “Don’t You Worry” on the flip introduces African rhythms with its percussive kalimba and conga patterns, warm synth chords and a groovy bass workout towards the end!

"Jazz & Milk’s new Twelve Inch Jams series is quickly becoming a staple of my dance-floor sets. Loving #003 from Dusty: Extremely well produced deep, soulful, disco house with a nice acid curveball on the A-side!" Lexis / Music is my Sanctuary

For their first Afro-Brazilian compilation the German Jazz & Milk label teamed up with Tahira, one of São Paulo’s most active DJs and music collectors. Levanta Poeira (Afro-Brazilian music & rhythms from 1976 – 2016) highlights a few of his favourite DJ pearls and encompasses Brazil’s various regional musical styles influenced by African and Amerindian forms. While most foreign music lovers tend to approach Brazilian music by having American music genres such as Jazz, Soul, Funk, Disco as a reference, Tahira’s personal wish was to showcase the rich musical roots and facets of his country by featuring carefully selected artists and bands from the past 4 decades. Most of these tracks will be made available on vinyl for the very first time with a highlight certainly being Tahira’s “A Toda Menina Baiana” remix (vinyl-only) of one of Brazil’s absolute musical heroes, Gilberto Gil.

Tahira is a well known character and good soul of São Paulo’s music and digging community, regularly searching through record shops, private collections or dusty attics around the country. The passionate DJ dedicated the past four years extensively researching Brazil’s broader spectrum of musical styles and slowly started to introduce more and more African and indigenous elements in his DJ sets. Encouraged by the great acceptance and success during his shows he decided to curate his first compilation project to share his discoveries with the world. “Levanta Poeira” is a popular Brazilian expression meaning "kick up dust." This is a phenomenon that can be found throughout the country, a cultural manifestation that exists where people gather to play, dance and party. Earth is hit by the foot of the dancers raising a cloud of dust. It is a sign that the heat of the Brazilian spirit is present!

The compilation starts of with a key figure of Brazil’s music scene. Since the 1950s, the Genius Gilberto Gil has been gifting us with countless musical blessings. Very few artists were able to not only explore but embody the diversity of Brazilian music as well as he did. Gil’s endless row of classics include the wonderful track “Toda Menina Baiana” which has been revisited by Tahira himself. Adding Ijexá beats, as well as Afrobeat stlye guitars and a horn section on top of the original, Tahira managed to make this legendary song attractive to a young and modern audience. The remix starts of with a long percussion intro, builds up very slowly before finally introducing the first vocal verse - an arrangement especially designed for DJs who love to mix and blend brazilian rhythms in their sets. This remix will be available on vinyl only!

Established in 1995, Barbatuques from São Paulo developed different techniques of body percussion, vocal percussion, tap dance and musical improvisation in their collective experiences. “Baiao Destemperado” is a Forró (a genre of Brazilian music that originated in Northeast) with the famous Barbatuques body percussion trademark. A truly unique and outstanding piece of music!

Back in 1976 Georgette or Georgete da Mocidade recorded “Kiriê” – a track produced by the genius Ed Lincoln, a pioneer of sambalanço, a very groovy music style which mingles samba rhythms and American jazz. The Afro influences on this track are unmistakable. The simple foundation of guitars and percussion create a very warm and electrifying sound layered by Georgette’s beautiful vocals. The rhythmic pattern of the percussion intro is called “Congo de Outro", an Afro Brazilian rhythm with Bantu origins that heavily inspired modern producers and laid the foundation for Baile Funk.

Renata Rosa is a contemporany artist that blends sounds of the northeast area of Brazil in a very unique way. On “Brilhantina” her indigenous influenced voice fits wisely to the Samba de Coco rhythms. Its´s an outstanding track from the beginning to the end and a good example of how powerful and bass-heavy percussion-driven music from Brazil can sound these days. Renata Rosa manages to present Brazil’s musical roots in a modern guise, celebrating widely unkown facets of Brazilian music culture.

Global bass producer Maga Bo continuously explores the contours of Afro-Brazilian culture including many collaborations with some of the biggest talents in Brazil’s vast musical landscape. His track ”No Balanço da Canoa” was remixed by another production pioneer Chico Correa who was one of the first to blend Brazilian sounds of the norheast with electronic beats back in 2003. On his remix he modernized the traditional style of the original version by adding flutes, synth basslines and strong electronic Coco stlye beats.

Coco Raízes de Arcoverde are influenced by elements of indigenous and Afro culture. The band was formed in 1992 by Lula Calixto and the Irmãs Lopes. After a while the Irmãs Lopes split up to form their own band but Lula Calixto kept playing with Coco Raízes and made his whole family become part of the group too. They play a kind of Coco style ryhthm called Trupé, in which they use wooden sandals as a percussion instrument, strongly reminding one of clap sounds, which can also be heard in the intro of “Gode Pavão” - a very powerful song impossible not to dance along to!

Around for more than 90 years, Banda de Pífanos de Caruaru are one of the oldest bands in South America. They started in 1924 with Manoel Clarindo Biano and Benedito Clarindo Biano in Alagoas, but recorded their first album not until 1972 after Gilberto Gil recorded Banda de Pifanos’ track “Pipoca Moderna” as part of his album “Expresso 2222”. Unfortunately the originators Manoel and Benedito Biano have passed away but the band continues the tradition with their sons and nephews. The musicians play several self made instruments like drums and "pífanos" (fife flutes). “Balao Azul” is a very happy song for the dancefloor!

The digital version of the compilation concludes with bonus tracks of two contemporary artists from Brazil. On “Sika Blawa” the group Afroelectro revisited the music of the African continent with their own contemporary approach flavouring traditional rhythms with the urban musical soundscapes of the metropole São Paulo. The tracks is a deep Afro-Brazilian journey full of effects, guitars and loops featuring a very special guest musician, Chico Cesar.

Forró RED Light is an electronic music duo formed by Geninho Nacanoa and Ramiro Galas. The project blends Brazilian forró music with beats, synths and samples, revamping this traditional genre by adding modern electronic elements and bringing popular Brazilian music culture back to modern dance floors. Baião Violossintético is a beautiful piece of music featuring a typical Brazilian instrument, the viola caipira on top of electronic beats and synth sounds.

  1. You Don't Feel Enough
  2. Session Victim Remix

For their 12th label anniversary, Jazz & Milk have decided to launch a new series called “Twelve Inch Jams” in order to celebrate vinyl culture and the legendary 12” format!

JAMS002 sounds the bell for the second round of the series including a 10 years re- issue of the classic Sam Irl cut “You Don’t Feel Enough”. Originally released as a B1 tune on his “African Dance EP” debut on Pulver Records in 2007, this jazzy house gem found its way into the record bags of many influential DJs over the years. From Session Victim, Glenn Astro, Max Graef to Hodini... the record never disappeared in club sets but certainly from discogs a good while ago.

So it was about time to give the tune a second life and finally press it on the format it deserves - a whole 12” side. The German production duo Session Victim are well-known fans of the track describing it as their secret weapon playing it in quite many DJ sets for years, including their 2015 appearance for Mixmag’s DJ Lab.

Hence, it is a great pleasure that Session Victim contributed a remix to the new release. Their absolutely elegant and groove-driven version with a charming 90’s touch to it makes a brillant counterpart to the original with its jazzy piano-, drum- and double bass samples leading to an epic synth break that regularly causes ecstatic moments on the dancefloor.

  1. Pick Up The Pieces
  2. Drift

"Amazing track!" - Gilles Peterson
"Love both tracks!" - Mr. Scruff

Sometimes you produce a track with nothing but a dancefloor and a good sound system in mind. “Twelve Inch Jams” is offering you just that - strictly two A side tunes for the floor cut at 45 revolutions per minute. Jazz & Milk pays tribute to this classy release format with their new 12” vinyl series. Each record comes in a hand silk-screened printed and stamped sleeve!

The series starts off with members of the label family - Vienna’s Sam Irl and the man behind Jazz & Milk, Dusty. The two not only share a good friendship, but also the love for raw and sample-based house music tunes produced on the MPC. They got together and created these jams in two nightly sessions. “Pick Up The Pieces” is driven by a rough bass drum, filthy dub vocal samples, harmonic synth chords and a bassline that makes you bounce. “Drift” has a rather moody vibe but nonetheless dancefloor potential. The track is a beautiful collage piece consisting of plenty sample fragments which doesn’t fail to pull you in its spell like a drift through otherworldly spheres...

So let’s pay tribute to good music and Tom Moulton’s legacy - the 12” single!

After various EP’s, remixes and compilation features, the Lower Bavarian Vienna-based musician and producer Sam Irl releases his debut album „Raw Land“. Assembling his collection of analogue synthesizers and stacks of vinyl records around his MPC sampler, he chopped up, sequenced, played and mixed together twelve jams ranging from broken beat, dub-influenced grooves, disco-ish material to raw deep house vibes. The combination of vinyl fragments, analogue synthesis, the grit of hardware samplers and mixing on a vintage mixing desk from the seventies create punchy, rough, yet also deep and soulful grooves.

Growing up in a small village in rural Lower Bavaria, Sam Irl learned to play the piano and organ at an early age, later moving on to jazz piano and first attempts at music production as well as DJ-ing. The lack of an existing underground music scene in his home town provided him and his friends with a healthy need and rooted foundation to organize their own regular parties at a local farm and smaller venues in the area, including on the banks of the River Danube, playing eclectic music ranging from roots reggae, hiphop, funk, broken beat, nujazz to house, UK garage and drum’n'bass and to collaborate on musical projects, such as making beats for regional MC’s.

He has been living and working in Vienna for over a decade as a producer and sound engineer while completing his degree (2015) at the University for Music and Performing Arts.

Besides releasing his music on Jazz & Milk, he has had releases on labels such as Pomelo Records (Vienna / AT, with Patrick Pulsinger), Frank Music (Berlin / D), Gilles Peterson's Brownswood Recordings (London / UK, "Kutmah presents Worldwide Family Vol. 2", with Richard Eigner / Ritornell), Pulver Records (Stuttgart / D), Bonzzaj Recordings (Bern / CH, with Dorian Concept), Fresh Minute Music (London / UK) und Bagage Musique (Munich / D).

He has also contributed remixes for Trishes (FM4 Tribe Vibes), Inverse Cinematics, JSBL, Aloa Input, Swede:art, G.rizo, Funkyjaws and others. Firmly rooted in hip hop culture, he has been making beats for several Bavarian rap artists. Apart from releasing his solo music, Sam Irl has made records as a member of „SKYMAX“, a trio together with Finnish underground producer Stiletti-Ana and Viennese homie, Feater. He is currently working on a record and playing live shows with Patrick Pulsinger for their dub-heavy „Pulsinger & Irl“ project.

Jazz & Milk is back with a brand new compilation series featuring previously unreleased tracks by international label artists, friends & family!

Everyone familiar with Jazz & Milk probably knows about the importance of musical diversity to the label's spirit. However, once you listen closer you will definitely hear the connecting force, a rhythmic and soulful foundation of these 15 tracks. The sum of the album's musical influences lead back to Africa and its long lasting impact on numerous modern music genres throughout the world. A good many times such musical footprints are shining through on this record ranging from Jazz, Funk, Afrobeat, Cumbia, Ethio-Jazz to Hip Hop, deep House and Bass music. While each style is unique, they have a strong rhythmic element in common.

Footprints starts off with the energetic raw sound of Todd Simon & The Angel City All Star Brass Band. Amusingly, the song has been inspired by a culinary experiment, a 50/50 blend of Ethiopian coffee beans from the Sidama region and Colombian beans not too far from Cali. Aiming at translating the experiment's success into a completely different sphere, that of music, Simon combined the traditional sounds of both regions. The track not only features musical prodigy Quantic on the guacharaca (colombian version of the guiro) but also a 'who is who' of LA's music scene. Jazz & Milk label-founder and "Footprints" compiler Dusty delivers a heavy Afro-Funk vibe by remixing the Bad Jazz Troupe, a live project he formed together with his musical soulmate Jerker Kluge. Label artist Sam Irl from Vienna takes us on a journey of raw emotions. On "Time" he fed his MPC with filthy vinyl samples, jazzy rhodes chords, deep basslines and smooth synth-arpeggios - all glued together on top of a driving House beat. The legendary Munich-based formation Karl Hector & The Malcouns (Now-Again) is also contributing to the album's special flavor. "Who's Foolin' Who?" was written by JJ Whitefield (producer and guitarist for the Poets of Rhythm and the Whitefield Brothers) and obviously reflects his affinity for sounds from across the African diaspora. Jerker Kluge and his Deep Jazz Project, more local talent from Munich, is performing a fantastic cover version of Andy Bey's classic "Celestial Blues" with Julia Fehenberger on vocals. Footprints has to offer much more and includes further contributions by Jazz & Milk artists & friends such as Romanowski featuring P.E.A.C.E. (Freestyle Fellowship), Mr Chop (UK), Ray Lugo (NYC), Lay-Far (Russia), GTA Hoffmann, Lipanti-Rodrigez or the 45prince.

The Munich-based label, and its associated clubnight, have been a city fixture for the past eight years and represent an integral component of German club culture. Just like on "Footprints" Jazz & Milk keeps pushing musical boundaries, seeking new territories and a distinctive sound that blends sophisticated old- and contemporary electronic music.

“Mood Matters“ is a defining illustration of Dusty’s musical world. With open eyes and ears, in combination with an insatiable appetite for collaboration and experimention, he has constantly straddles the fine line between tradition and modernity. Several years after his successful debut album „Keep It Raw,“ the Jazz&Milk label founder hits home with this beautiful record, one that highlights how subtle and talented a producer and musician he is. „Mood Matters“ proves that an album need not simply commit itself to a genre or two; and in the process ups the ante considerably by featuring a broad spectrum of musical styles, bringing together Dusty’s favourite leanings such as Jazz, Funk, Soul, Afrobeat, Latin, percussive Beats and Deep House rhythms, while seeking a natural balance between accoustic, electronic and traditional sounds through the prism of a club-music oriented approach.

Not only does the album feature some of Munich’s finest musicians, such as the members of the Bad Jazz Troupe, Jo Junghanss or Beni Brachtel aka Bartellow but it also impresses via its collaborations with a diverse range of international artists. From the beautiful voice of Carla Vallet (France), the amazing guitar rhythms of Kokolo’s Ray Lugo (NYC) and Flamenco musician El Pirata (Granada) to the rich production sounds of Sam Irl (Vienna), the hypnotic percussion of César Granados (Panamá City) and the sweeping horn sections of Todd Simon (Los Angeles) – covering a universe of musical talent in all their different shapes, masterfully capturing the deep musical vision of its main architecht.

Informed by his experienced sampling background, Dusty sets a high value to establishing his own characteristic sounds. For the most part, he avoids sampling on „Mood Matters“, and instead creates a sound somewhere between nostalgic sampling and a rich modern aestethic by combining the charm of old recording equipment with the benefits of contemporary production methods. This fusion is brilliantly demonstrated on the title track, one that meshes forward-driven house vibes with organic jazz instrumentation. In addition, tracks like „Danse Macabre“, „It’s Time“, „Reascend“ or „Lost in Andalusia“ bring together traditional live elements with electronic production, synthesizer sounds and heavy basslines. While a very danceable approach is found on most of the tracks, one also finds tranquil and underscored ones, such as the lovely pieces „All There Is“ and „Longing Lingers“ which features Carla Vallet’s vocal talents or on „Southern Spirits“ with its colorful Flamenco guitar and gentle string arrangements.

The Munich-based label, and its associated clubnight „Jazz&Milk“, have been a city fixture for the past seven years and represent an integral component of German club culture, having hosted international luminaries such as Mr. Scruff, Quantic, Sofrito Soundsystem, Lefto, Simbad and many others. From his collaborations with and influences from such creative and versatile producers and DJ’s, to his live performances with the Bad Jazz Troupe, to his spinning vinyl records, these experiences have all combined to generate the unique sound found in Dusty’s productions. As a passionate DJ, he travels the world consistently, having performed for audiences in New York, London, Madrid, Canary Islands, Copenhagen, Saigon, Manila or Singapore. He cleverly manages to move dancefloors with an individual and positive twist, not by submitting to musical clichés, but by always seeking a distinctive sound, one that blends sophisticated old and contempary dance music.

As a do-it-yourself man, Dusty took months to build a full-scale music studio environment out of white cardboard paper, to be used as basis for the title song’s music video „Mood Matters,“ in which a large dancing milk carton programs beats, plays instruments and dances along to the jazz driven House track. Paper drum- and tape machines are brought to life by means of elaborate stop-motion generated sequences; which can also be found on the album’s cover art. www.vimeo.com/62128454

If you are already familiar with the eclectic Jazz&Milk cosmos - exemplified by several releases from artists such as Ray Lugo, Sam Irl, Fredericks Brown, The Jivers and Mr. Chop, then you can rightly expect, and not be disappointed by, all the different styles and influences shining through on this album – all held together by THE connecting force in Dusty’s music: a whole lotta Rhythm!

It is neither a new computer game, nor a novelist - but most certainly the tightest live formation that Jazz & Milk has to offer to date! GTA Hoffmann sips out of your ear, sways your hips and bypasses the vessels of your awareness, 120 times per minute. Three musicians, experienced in diverse and manifold musical areas, play their own and unique creation of live dance music.

Beni Brachtel, aka Bartellow (guitar), Lukas Rabe (keys) and Gabriel Hahn (drums) operate their instruments as armatures of turning knobs, sliders and effect pedals and pave their way through earthy R'n'B grooves, wooden house and analogue elevator-minimalism. As improvisers and composers they love to play with shapes, moods and all types of sounds. The result is pure energy, which inspires deep listening, immersion and dancing.

What appears to be an artificially produced electronica record is in fact the live sound of a trio, which levitates through space and time - far away from any musical categorization - while sonically complementing and reorganizing earthly pulse.

THE JIVERS is a production duo formed by the two French DJs/producers: Don Pascal and Fred Spider. Having not known each other before, their paths first crossed when both of them had moved to Barcelona in 2007. Soon they discovered their common love for deep and soulful music ranging from Jazz, Funk, Brazil to Nu-Jazz, Broken Beat or House. Their debut single Do What has already been featured on the Jazz&Milk Breaks compilation and received amazing feedback and spins from DJs all over the globe and was brought to an even broader audience after being included on several compilations such as Saint Germain des Prés Café. Now the song is being re-released in form of the Do What EP including a brand new track called Move On Girl, again featuring the unmistakable voice of Anqui and remixes by DJ Moodz, Don Pascal and Fred Spider. The Jivers’ music can be described as a dance-floor oriented fusion of Jazz elements with modern beat productions including the colorful and melodic vocals of Anqui.

DJ Moodz, a French DJ and producer who has been living in London since 1998 surprised us with a deep and organic remix of the title track. Furthermore The Jivers’ very own Don Pascal and Fred Spider took the opportunity to remix their new track “Move On Girl“ independently from each other with brilliant results ranging from Don Pascal’s Broken Beat and synth affected Dub to three melodic and even more Jazz influenced remixes by Fred Spider.

Make sure to check out the video of “Do What” which has been shot in Barcelona and Cape Town – good vibes guaranteed!

From the beautiful islands of New Zealand comes Fredericks Brown, the musical collaboration of vocalist Deva Mahal, keyboardist Steph Brown, and guitarist Michael Taylor. They have become renowned for their energetic live shows, rich harmonies, and beautifully crafted songs.

Betrayal started out as an instrumental jam, born out of a weekly residency gig held by Steph Brown and Julien Dyne (BBE). The two were hired to play as an organ duo in the backbar of a Thai restaurant in their hometown of Auckland, New Zealand. The bar was well hidden, relatively unknown and unpopulated. Then, when the music got too loud, the bar manager would close the internal doors leading to the restaurant, effectively sealing off the bar and providing Steph and Julien with their own private (and paid!) jam session. A perfect environment to create and it was here that the song Betrayal was born.

Upon moving to New York, Steph would occasionally play the jam before Fredericks Brown shows as an opener. Then one day Deva came on stage early singing the melody with wordless vocals and it sounded so good that they decided to make it a song. Drawing on the influence of Fela Kuti and Stevie Wonder, the song tells the story in three simple verses of a loved ones betrayal.

Land of Plenty is a rich and evocative piece of music, depicting a nostalgia and deep longing for a home, far away. It draws on the vast, stunningly beautiful landscapes of New Zealand, the homeland of Fredericks Brown. Mixed by Mu of Fat Freddys Drop.

Label head Dusty picked up the unmistakable Afrobeat vibe of Betrayal and contributed a heavy percussive Afro-Funk remix to this EP. Everyone who enjoyed his remixes for The Boogoos or the Bad Jazz Troupe last year will definitely dig this one! Finally Andreas Saag, the mastermind of the exquisite Swell Session project has come up with a fantastic jazzy-house remix of Betrayal. It works wonders on the Jazz&Milk dancefloors and even in the deepest winter it definitely sounds like the next summer anthem to be! Saag plays some driving jazz chords on top of a refreshing beat that will sweep you off your feet. You can also find an additional deep house remix version of Andreas Saag on the digital release of this EP!

Enjoy the wonderful music of Fredericks Brown and watch out for upcoming live performances this year!

You could probably live without bad Jazz, but you don´t want to miss the Bad Jazz Troupe! Disregarding any kind of mindless rule – musical or otherwise – this reckless band revamps traditional rhythms and styles with modern production techniques. The Bad Jazz Troupe brings together raw Afrobeat, Jazz and Funk elements with the latest achievements of the electronic revolution in the world of music. The result sounds fresh and original and yet reminds one of those days when Jazz was still something unruly, naughty and rebellious. What the Bad Jazz Troupe seeks to accomplish, after all, is nothing but bad jazz in the best sense.

The initiators of the project are two „bad“ boys in otherwise quiet and peaceful Munich, Germany. Jerker Kluge, much sought-after bassist and composer (The Boogoos, The Hi-Fly Orchestra, Cesar´s Salad, Radio Utopia), provides an invaluable musical basis with selected players of the local Jazz and Funk scene. Their organic sound is infused with energetic beats and hypnotic loops by Dj, producer and labelhead Dusty (Jazz & Milk). Already in 2009 he created a dancefloor hit by remixing the Afro-Funk of The Boogoos. Back then Jerker and Dusty decided that they will continue acting in collusion and so they founded the Bad Jazz Troupe.

In the band’s live performances highly skilled and creative musicians merge sophisticated arrangements with brilliant improvisations on top of Dusty’s inimitable percussive beats. Purists also get a chance to experience this sound at thome: on the A side of the vinyl EP they will find an electroacoustic fusion of musicians and producer and on the B side the original studio recordings of the band.

Keep your eyes open for upcoming live gigs and an entire album by the Bad Jazz Troupe.

The wait is over! Jazz & Milk has come up with another dancefloor smasher! The second Jazz & Milk Breaks CD edition is out now. Brilliant international producers and musicians from Barcelona to London, Tokyo, New York, Warsaw, San Sebastian and Munich joined the project and left their individual and often exotic trademarks on this genre-breaking compilation.

Taking in fusions of Jazz, Latin, Afro and Funk with eclectic productions, this is all designed for forward thinking dancefloors and minds. The vinyl sampler which already featured some of the tunes got heavy support by the kinds like Craig Charles (BBC 6), Nik Weston (Mukatsuku), Paul Murphy, Dimitri From Paris, Dom Servini and Diesler, just to name a few.

Envee is the first to go. He opens up the floor with his outstanding jazz dance version of Pinnawela´s tune "You Can Dance". Labelhead and Jazz & Milk Breaks compiler Dusty remixed the 13-piece afro-funk group The Boogoos and created an electrifying mixture of vintage live sounds and heavy beats. Panama born percussion maestro César Granados and his latin-jazz combo come up with a breathtaking version of Dizzie Gillespie´s classic tune "Manteca". Additional artists on the compilation are The Snip, The Jivers, Greenwood Rhythm Coalition from New York´s “Names You Can Trust” imprint, Kan Sano, Saffrolla, Rube and Javi P3z.

Watch out for limited editions, handmade artwork… and help us to support individual artforms and of course holy fresh milk!

  2. An Exotic Breed (Umberto Echo´s Dub) 03:57
  3. Salsa Step 04:43
  4. Rhythmo (Feat. Carla Vallet) 04:52

Finally Dusty presents the most exotic tracks of his new album „Keep it Raw“ on this brilliant vinyl EP. True to the title, the opener guarantees an exotic mixture: dubby horns, latin voices, african drums as well as melodic saxophon and rhodes solos. Umberto Echo, a great dub producer from Munich has formed the title track into a wonderful and energetic dub version with half tempo beats including great effects and reverbs. The B-Side which is more on the latin tip, comes with „Salsa Step“. Broken beats paired with salsa rhythms, progressive synth sounds, heavy percussion and a massive horn section – definitely a great tune for the dancefloor! „Rhythmo“ features the wonderful voice of „Carla Vallet“, a jazz singer with multicultural background who has already worked with artists like Monday Michiru, Mondo Grosso or DJ Krush. This is a nice downtempo track, with a smooth brazilian guitar, combined with latin percussion and spanish vocals.

  2. Voodoo (Romanowski's Voodoo Island Remix) 03:57
  3. Tap Tap (Watch TV Remix) 04:43
  4. Keep It Raw (Vono Box Remix) 03:58

Dusty’s Keep It Raw EP gets an amazing remix treatment by some of the good names out there. We believe that Solo Moderna took the title seriously when doing his remix for „Loco Para La Pista“ – this is something crazy for the dancefloor and it absolutely works! Medicine man Romanowski from San Francisco collected special herbs on Voodoo Island to brew his great remix of the track called „Voodoo“. Watch TV, the man from Spain turns the the jazz driven „Tap Tap“ into a smashing and progressive piece that is just waiting to be played out loud! Last but not least the guys from Vono Box are keeping it raw, adding the right dose of phat beats and effects to the title track. Once again, this record bridges the gap between melodic jazz grooves and „clubby“ productions!

For his debut album “Keep It Raw” Jazz&Milk labelfounder Dusty has invited several jazz musicians into the studio including the great voice of “Carla Vallet”, a jazz singer with multicultural background who has already worked with artists like Monday Michiru, Mondo Grosso or DJ Krush. Be sure to enjoy an eclectic and throughout melodic record with a perfect amalgamation of live musicians and modern productions that makes this album much more than just a collection of exciting tracks for the club dance floor.

Influenced by a wide range of musical styles like Funk, Jazz, Afro and Latin, Dusty has created a unique sound that combines all of them extremely well. Tracks like “Rhythmo”, “Just An Illusion” or ”Keep It Raw” were already featured on compilations like “Brazilectro”, “This is DJ’s choice” on the Unique imprint, as well as Sony BMG’s “Kulturkantine – Contemporary Jazz Lounge Sessions”.

The vinyl samplers of the album including an amazing remix EP (with remixes by Solo Moderna, Romanowski, Watch TV and Vono Box) got massive support from DJs and radio stations worldwide.

More than three years ago Dusty has founded the label with his his first "Jazz&Milk EP" and since then has been releasing artists like Free The Robots, Mr Chop, Rube or Romanowski. While setting up a monthly labelnight in Munich and remixing acts like The Hi-Fly Orchestra, Analogik or Tom Eno, Dusty travels the world and fills club and festival dance floors with his exotic DJ sets that electrify with ambitious jazz melodies and heavy percussive beats.

While the rhythmic elements and the basic groove of his productions deliver an impulsive club feeling, jazzy live solos add the right melodic dose to unite young and old music lovers or modern and vintage sound enthusiasts. credits released February 27, 2009

In the current hype involving young German jazz pianists an exclamation mark should be added to Christian Doepke´s name.

Lyricism and groove should not be contradictory. The same applies to pace, depth and gracefulness, let alone swing and intelligence. In addition, the compositions of the Amsterdam-based pianist also tell wonderful stories, which really dots the i´s.

Doepke, a romantic at heart like Bill Evans – who gets a beautiful tribute with Bill´s Mood – as well as a realist in the tradition of Horace Silver, has developed his own signature on the 88 keys with a clear touch and a sovereign technique, that clearly distinguishes him from the German jazz pianist masses.

You´ll see someone buckled down to a concert grand, who is equally familiar with sunlit open spaces in a forest and the liveliness of a metropolis, witness „Heaven Knows“ and Looking For Trouble“.

(Dr. Tobias Böcker, English translation by Emiel Wienholts)

Step into the world of mr.Chop and you will find a fantastic planet full of eclectic sounds. Taking his influence from 60´s electronica, music concrete funk, psych, library, soundtracks ,krautrock only start to scratch the surface. Hard to define musically but easy to dig all the same. All made with live instruments in mr. Chops secret lab…

Enter the cave and you will find ´the caveman´ along with some heavy dirty drums, a pack of hungry pierre henry ravaged analogue synths, scary delayed horns, wah-wah mellotrons and big phased out mega breakdowns. Bring on ´snob´ a trip into a psychedelic bullett induced indian mantra and rock out with a johnny harris flute explosion while you are there. Sit down for a minute and catch your breath with ´a trip through the water door´. A short skit featuring the mighty mike burnam from the heliocentrics. "Brainticket" a heavy psych wah-wah freakout with fuzzed out guitars, nutty tape loops , sprinkles of heavy bass and some old pots and pans for percussion.

Fill up your tank with ´fuel´. Super silver apples style freakout. Big synths and heavy live techno/latin drums with a few surprises later on. ´Monolith voodoo vibes´ featuring malcolm catto from the heliocentrics on drums. A monster! Big drums, big bass, big horns, big moog. Big nasty chopness. ´The red baron´ again featuring malcolm catto on drums for this dark soundtrack number, mellotron strings plus moog equals sinister flute action. ´Conduit closing´ short skit outro, with synths and delays to bring the record to a close.

Kidboy is an upcoming producer and versatile musician based in Granada who is always searching for a balance between organic and electronic sounds. On his debut EP he teams up with vocalists such as Ohmega Watts, BluRum13 and Julio Cesar Rodriguez and a bunch of excellent jazz musicians including pianist Juan Galiardo. Bored by too many monotonous releases out there Kidboy wanted to present a diverse EP – with percussive Broken Beats, heavy basslines sounds and Latin instrumentation on the one hand and very mellow and jazzy Hip Hop tracks on the other!

The EP starts off with Yo Me Voy De Aqui a progressive dj-tune filled with organic latin samples and an enormous sub bassline – one truly for the dancefloor! Also on the latin tip, Changüí De Manteca features cuban singer Julio Cesar Rodriguez on vocals and percussion and Cesar´s Salad pianist Jo Junghanss on keys on top of an energetic Broken Beat.

Eventually Kidboy takes you back into the 90´s – the golden era of Hip Hop – with organic beats, jazz driven instrumentation and sophisticated rapping. The Culture features Ohmega Watts, a virtuoso rapper from the States who has released on Ubiquity and already worked with well known acts such as Quantic, The Bamboos or Breakestra. A Moment To Think presents BluRum13, known for his project One Self with DJ Vadim and Yarah Bravo, who came to Granada to collaborate with Kidboy.
